If we must discuss a particular species during hours, this is the one. From the mythical Issoumour mountain and the beloved Erbenochile genus... So, why it is not perfect? (by the way, fossils are not perfect, by definition!): their geological layer is particularly hard to broke and to prepare. The final result never juz the species as it worths. The eyes facets are always compromised and, most of the times, protection spines at all exoskeleton are damaged. The most beautiful collections specimens we can get are the colourful ones, like the one presented here. Being the poor relative of the Erbenochile genus, it is, nevertheless, a beloved trilobite for the connaisseur and worth a premier place at any top collection. It is always an elegant example of its Order whit its "big eyes".
Note the bi-coloured shell of this specimen, not very usual.
It's "tower" compound eyes, that allowed an almost 360º peripheral vision, are one of the most impressive examples of the first sophisticated visual systems in the animal kingdom.
Dimensions - Specimen: 6,7 x 3,9 cm; Matrix: 7,3 x 4,9 cm.
