Erbenochile erbeni perfect Fossil Trilobite. Devonian. Jbel Gara el Zguilma, Anti-Atlas Mountains, Morocco.

Restoration details: No restoration. 100% natural. A perfect astonishing museum specimen.

This is, for sure, one of the most beloved trilobites from Morocco, from the, also mythical, Foum Zguid mountains. Extremely rare, very difficult to extract (also because working at Foum Zguid quarries is now conditioned for military reasons) and very difficult to prepare in such detail as this specimen.

It's "tower" compound eyes, that allowed an almost 360º peripheral vision, even rimmed with an eyeshade (that cuts out the light from above), are one of the most impressive examples of the first sophisticated visual systems in the animal kingdom.

    The images speak for themselves.

Dimensions - Specimen: 5,4 (sagital, not outstretched; this curved backwards position is very often seen in this species) x 4,6 cm; Matrix: 8,5 x 8,4 cm.

Finding locality: Jbel Gara el Zuilma, Foum Zguid area, Anti-Atlas Mountains, Morocco.

Taxonomy - Species: Erbenochile erbeni; Family: Acastidea; Order: Phacopida; Class: Trilobita.

Geological Period: Devonian, from Paleozoic Era.
