Double Cyphaspides sp. Fossil Trilobite. Devonian. Jorf, Anti-Atlas Mountains, Morocco.

Restoration details: No restoration. 100% natural. A double plate from a quarry that will not allow extracting any more fossils!

This is for sure, the last double Cyphaspides plate we will see from that quarry: the "white" quarry of Jorf, best named as Fezna's quarry. The locality has been closed, as it is, somehow, a danger to the village (see Google Earth image below). The proximity of the houses and the vitreum characteristics of the rocks were preponderant to this decision. More specimens will be very scarce or completely unavailable from now on.

The presented specimens are in a perfect state of preparation. All the original characteristics were left on the plate as a natural history frozen moment. One of the eyes in one specimen is missing and we didn't reconstruct it, a calcite vein transpose one of the specimens and we didn't fix it (what would be the most aesthetic solution) and no reconstructions were made at the trilobites shell.

Multiple trilobites plates from Jorf are very scarce, even from the active red quarry (where this species doesn't exist). Lately, we have noticed some crazy composite plates from there. Simply, that doesn't exist in nature, in Jorf.

This is, for sure, one of the best-preserved examples of this species we will see from Jorf, in their original positions. Sandblasting work is exceptional. Another once-in-a-life plate from our team, at Morocco and Portugal!

Not many people in the world can master this final result. The preparation took dozens of hours and it is a surgical job worthy of admiration.
